Meet the Owner

Rebecca Myers-Settle, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

My roots run deep here in the Northern Shenandoah Valley/Warren County area, where I was born and raised. I am passionate about giving back, helping my community, and making a positive difference in the lives of others, which is why I decided to open Blue Ridge Mental Healthcare. I attended Shenandoah University and graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and certificate in Healthcare Management in 2008, my Master’s Degree in Nursing with a concentration in Health Systems Management and a Certificate in Nursing Education in 2011, and I graduated with my Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Post Master’s Certificate in 2017. I am a board certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Executive through the ANCC and am licensed to practice in Virginia and West Virginia. I also completed training in 2023 to become a Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist.

I started my nursing career in 2002 when I became a CNA. Throughout my nursing career I have worked in various settings and roles: Medical Telemetry, Intensive Care/Progressive Care, Long Term Care, Private Home Care, Infection Prevention, Nursing Leadership, and Adjunct Nurse Faculty. I have been active with the Virginia Nurses Association, where in the past I served as President for the Shenandoah Valley Chapter. I am also active with the American Psychiatric Nurses Association and am currently serving as President for the Virginia Chapter.

Ellen O. Cavanagh MSN, BSW, APRN, PMHNP-BC

I was raised in College Park, Maryland by two Virginia born parents. I attended Frostburg State University and completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work in 1993. This led me to Winchester, Virginia where I was employed as a mental health therapist at Shalom et Benedictus, an inpatient facility for adolescents with addiction and mental health concerns. I became focused on giving back to the community that I served. I volunteered for the Winchester Rescue Squad and Round Hill Fire Department as an EMT and Firefighter. I later enlisted in the West Virginia Air National Guard and served as an Aeromedical Technician for eight years. I firmly planted my roots and started my family.

I started my nursing career by achieving an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Laurel Ridge and became licensed in 2005. This initiated my 15-year commitment to Winchester Medical Center. I proudly served the community within the walls of Critical Care, taking care of those that were gravely ill and injured. During that time, I attained my Master’s Degree in Nursing Education through Walden University in 2015. While employed full-time, I worked as Adjunct Faculty for the School of Nursing at Shenandoah University. Two years later, I pioneered the first Clinical Nurse Leader position in the Valley Health System, again serving the needs of the staff in Critical Care. During Covid, I was acutely aware of the mental health strain on our community. This gave me the motivation to return to Shenandoah University, where I obtained my Post Master’s Certificate in the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program, graduating in 2022. Subsequently, I was licensed as an Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner in the state of Virginia and board certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Currently, I donate my time and talents between my local church and the homeless shelter.

I consider it a privilege to meet people where they are in their lives, supporting them to meet their goals. As a servant leader, we only succeed when we succeed together.
